Being “alpha male” at my company, CQB K-9 requires more than just top physical and mental prowess. Running, shooting on the move, navigating natural obstacle courses, carrying out executive protection dog training and night operations are the norm in a training day. Staying at peak performance for activities such as high-altitude training at 8,000-14,000 feet requires a mindset and skillset where failure is not an option. Where I work, you might require medical treatment, need a plan B (or D) or have to endure the weather changes that can occur in Colorado in five minutes’ time.

Direct communications to the dog for directional movement, via radio or 4G cellular to an ear bud mounted onto a harness, helmet or installed inside “Mutt-Muffs” provide close to long range comms to enhance mission- critical time on target. some we have modified from snowboarder technology. Goggles and specialized body armor & K-9 helmet cameras to provide level III-A protection and rappel/jump insertion.

In police work, canines are hugely significant force multipliers — and the numbers don’t lie. The Lansing Building Search study in Michigan showed that a building search for two bad guys with two-man teams of patrol officers recorded a 59-percent success rate in locating the individuals. Compare that to a K9 unit, boasting a 93-percent success rate and requiring a fraction of the time to conduct the search.
